Sensitive skin and skincare: why more is not better – and what to do instead

Herkkä iho ja ihonhoito: miksi enemmän ei ole parempi – ja mitä tehdä sen sijaan

Here is a paradox that no one really talks about: the more problems people have with their skin, the more they generally use skincare products. And the more they use products, the more sensitive their skin often becomes.

This is not a coincidence but a pure cause-and-effect relationship.

The skin is an ecosystem. It has its own microbiome, its own pH, its own oil balance. When you wash it with a strong cleanser, apply three serums, two liquids, and a moisturizer on top – and do this twice a day – it is not strengthening the skin. It is continuous shock treatment.

Sensitive skin is not a skin type in the same way as dry or oily. It is a condition. It indicates that the barrier is weakened or the microbiome is out of balance. And then the first thought should not be 'what should I add to my skincare routine' but 'how to allow the skin to recover.'

Meadow's approach is consciously minimalist. Silky Sage balm is one product that works for cleansing, moisturizing, and protecting. Not because it is easier to market as simple – but because it works in harmony with the skin. The skin does not need twelve products. It needs the right ingredients.

Calendula soothes, sage balances, sebum nourishes, and beeswax forms a breathable protective layer. Tea tree oil keeps bacteria in check without aggression. It has everything sensitive skin needs.

If you have sensitive skin and have tried everything possible – maybe it’s worth trying less.
